Join over 500 volunteers who found their purpose in Arusha and Zanzibar. Locally led, personally guided placements in education, community care, sports, and wildlife conservation.
In the centre of Arusha sits the VIT Arusha House — Volunteer in Tanzania's home base and your home in Tanzania. Founded by Tarloch and Leonie in 2013, our locally based team places volunteers where they are needed most across three locations: Arusha, Stone Town, and Zanzibar's South East Coast.
We are not a large agency. We are a tight-knit crew — Braiton managing daily operations, Sia guiding you from the moment your foot touches the ground, Prisca and Rehema keeping the house running, and a dedicated island team across two Zanzibar houses. Your time is extremely valuable, and we make sure every day of it counts.

Support nurseries, primary schools, and day care centres across Arusha and Zanzibar. Help children learn English, maths, and creative skills in a nurturing environment.
Coach football at local academies, organise sports days, and mentor young athletes. One ball can create so many smiles — your energy and skills make a real difference.
Work with animal welfare organisations, support local clinics and hospitals, or join community development projects. Every placement is matched to where help is needed most.
Choose the foothills of Mount Meru, the culture of Stone Town, or the beaches of the South East Coast — or split your time between all three.
Your weekends and free days are yours to explore. Our team organises trips across both destinations — from spice tours to safaris.
