Frequently Asked Questions

No. Most placements have been established with no specific skill set in mind. The exception is secondary school teaching, which requires a relevant background or TEFL certification. For everything else, enthusiasm and a willingness to help are what matter most.

Your placement fee covers accommodation, meals, airport transfer, orientation, and local support. As a small, locally based team in Tanzania — not a large Western agency — our costs are significantly lower than most. Contact us for a personalised quote based on your destination and duration.

Fees cover accommodation, food, laundry, local staff wages, and minimal administration — including vehicle maintenance, utilities, and phone and internet services. Because we are based in Tanzania, more of your money stays in the local economy rather than going to Western overheads.

Yes. You will get your Tourist Visa at the airport when you arrive — $50 USD for most nationalities, $100 for US nationals. Do not buy it from an embassy beforehand. Bring USD cash from 2009 or newer. The visa is valid for 3 months and single entry. Our team will guide you through the full process.

Tanzania is known for being one of the most politically stable countries in Africa. Our team provides comprehensive safety guidance, and our supervisors are available around the clock. All volunteers are required to have travel insurance covering emergency air evacuation.

Volunteers should generally budget around $15 USD per day for local travel, meals out, phone credit, and internet. Local meals cost $1–$5 USD, mineral water is around $0.50, and a local SIM card with internet runs approximately $2 per week.

Yes. We can accommodate groups, couples, and friends — depending on placement availability. Let us know when you get in touch and we will do our best to place you together.

If you are really struggling with your selected placement and we are unable to find a resolve, alternative placements will be arranged. We want you to have a meaningful experience, and we are flexible enough to make changes when needed.
